Andy brings nearly 25 years experience within the UK government and private sectors and works closely with many international airports, regulators and airlines.
Andy sits on the ICAO Wildlife Hazard Management Expert Group, authored the revised draft of CAP 772 guidance, was the UK Civil Aviation Authorities invited chair of the national birdstrike committee and is recognised as a lead driver of wildlife bird strike control at aerodromes. Andy recently contributed to AOA guidance material and provides experienced oversight for the team's output.
Director of Operations
Phil has had vast experience delivering specialist aiport bird control compliance checks and training courses to operators, airlines and managers around the world. Phil jointly set up Birdstrike Management in 2013 following over 20 years working in ornithology.
Phil developed the International Birdstrike Committee Standards into a proactive tool for work with the airline sector; a new initiative helping deliver spectacular results across a suite of airports around Europe.
Ruth leads the team's training programme ensuring innovative delivery methods and engaging training packages for airports around the world. Having developed her career for CSL Defra from 2006, Ruth continues developing initiatives to ensure new Birdstrike Management material in line with recommended guidance within EASA legislation, UK CAP 772 and IBSC standards.
Lee brings a wealth of ornithological expertise complimented by Masters level education. Lee heads up our periodic standards check programme covering almost 50 RAF bases around the UK and abroad and is our lead ornithologist on projects and monitoring at a variety of airports around the world.
Safeguarding and Remains Consultant
Sara primarily runs the team's safeguarding programme ensuring clarity and consistency for developers seeking planning approval around airports. Sara provides corporate administration, bird remains identification, airfield bird surveys, bird ringing and training, aviation training courses and compliance checks. Sara brings vast experience and specialist skills and helps provide continuity and flexibility to the team.
Andy brings vast experience having worked with avian radar, on training and compliance checks across Europe and as the bird control co-ordinator at Leeds Bradford International Airport.
Andy provides over 30 years ornithological experience and currently heads our domestic compliance check programme and provides airline risk management delivery across Europe.
Jon provides many years of ornithological survey and ringing experience and is primarily responsible for roles surveying 13km safeguarding areas both through regular off-airfield monitoring programmes and through bespoke visits. Jon adds an extra dimension to our team bringing with him 15 years’ experience in the grass management world.
Dr John Allan
Dr John Allan, ex chairman of the International Birdstrike Committee and author of research papers on risk management and costs to the industry, joined us to help retain his vast experience and knowledge within an increasingly aware global market. His specialist expertise and experience runs across all areas of delivery and provides additional international depth for deployment around the world.
Darren has over 15 years' experience working in airport operations and for BML. Darren's practical insight into airport wildlife hazard management adds a wealth of competence management, safeguarding and monitoring experience. Darren currently completes various 13km monitoring surveys for airports, is delivering a significant number of EASA WHM Compliance Checks around Europe and assists with our safeguarding, training and compliance check delivery.
Sarah joins us after working closely with Professor Pete Robertson whilst undertaking the Master of Science degree at Newcastle University on International Wildlife Management. Within a short time, Sarah is already involved in the monitoring of hazards and risks on and around airfields in the UK and brings a wealth of GIS and data analysis experience to the team.
